US Swiss Law Firm

US Swiss Law Firm

In 2015, we decided to open an International Tax and Business Law. Our choice was led by the fact that the digitalization and the globalization  of  the  economy  raise  new  legal  challenges;  in  particular,  new  rules  need  to  be implemented to protect economic actors’ interests. For this reason, new free trade treaties are being negotiated. Social justice also requires that all economic actors pay the appropriate taxes. Countries are  adopting  new  tax  treaties  to  increase  the  exchange  information  to  tackle  tax  avoidance.  To understand this new reality and be able to assist clients, international attorneys need to master these new international rules.  Furthermore, when working between the U.S. and the European Union, attorneys need to understand common and civil law.

Our founding partner, Olivier Thevoz, has always aimed to work as an international tax and business attorney. He thus decided to move from Switzerland to Austin, Texas with his family to set up our American branch and obtained the right to practice as a foreign legal consultant in Texas in 2016. Only a few months after launching our American law firm, Swiss companies started to consult us to grow their businesses in the United States.

The complex issues that required our assistance are related to clients’ tax and legal planning, including transfer pricing, VAT, withholding tax, customs duty, social insurances, and contractual issues. Since all these questions require cross-border analysis, we expanded our U.S. law firm by hiring U.S. attorneys.
